Important – life begins again when you retire
This is the web site of Ray and Hester Hand. It is, primarily, a collection of photographs that reflect our interests and the places we’ve visited recently. As well as that, we’ve included a selection of photos of family, friends and some of the special occasions in our lives.
This is a WordPress web site and uses the WordPress Xtreme theme. Keeping the site up-to-date serves as a device for occupying us when the weather is too bad for Hester to do gardening or for Ray to venture out onto the golf course.
The Travel section is the one I hope expands quickly as, now that we’re given up the benefits of paid employment, we get more and better chances to visit places for pleasure rather than for work.
Despite Hester being involved in lots of local civic duties and Ray spending too many days on the golf course, we’re trying hard to make up for lost travel time. The years since 2009 have found us in the mind-blowing city of New York, idly relaxing in Spain at Casa en el Campo (a holiday villa, once owned and run by Ray’s niece Karen and her husband Jeff), returning (and returning, and returning) to the never-disappointing city of Paris, taking a fascinating tour of the Egyptian temples on the banks of the Nile, visiting some of the stunning cities and sights of Vietnam and Cambodia, and taking short breaks at a number of European cities. We have, of course, also ventured north of Abingdon on regular family visits to Inverness and York.
The Golf section is loosely related to the Travel section in that it includes plugs for courses on the Costa Blanca within easy reach of where Ray’s niece and family live. Finally, the Test Page (when it’snot hidden from prying eyes) is what it says – a testbed and display area for assorted WordPress Plugins, Widget-fiddling and other experiments.
